I only spent 48 hours in Auckland, but I will never forget my experience there. Super friendly people, amazing nature close to the city and one of my best omakase experiences ever. So here are the best tips for Auckland – according to me.
Why you’ll love Auckland
Super friendly people, a modern city, great green areas close to the city and a great hub to start explore the rest of the country. Auckland is amazing.
My best omakase experience in Auckland
The Japanese habit of omakase (お任せ) when you’re ordering at a restaurant pretty much means, “I’ll leave it up to you”, inviting the chef to be innovative and surprising in the selection of dishes. I try to do it in every city I visit, and apply the idea behind to everything between how I pick my runs, how I pick my food, how I plan activities with my kids, how I explore cities and how I travel in general. So, I tried this in Auckland as well.
My best omakase experience in Auckland was when I got a speed course in haka by the team of Maori Television. In less than an hour they prepared me to do a full haka in front of an audience in a bar in Auckland. Something to never forget.
