The best tips for Prague – according to me

I have visited Prague 3-5 times per year over the last 5 years, usually for business. Over time, I really started to love the city. So, these are the best tips for Amsterdam – according to me that is.

My best omakase experience in Prague

The Japanese habit of omakase (お任せ) when you’re ordering at a restaurant pretty much means, “I’ll leave it up to you”, inviting the chef to be innovative and surprising in the selection of dishes. I try to do it in every city I visit, and apply the idea behind to everything between how I pick my runs, how I pick my food, how I plan activities with my kids, how I explore cities and how I travel in general. So, I tried this in Prague as well.

My best omakase experience in Prague was at Eska, one of the amazing restaurants in Prague, inspired by the Nordic kitchen. I just asked the waiter for the food she liked best and got course after course of amazing food.

That’s one of my best tips for Prague.

The best restaurants in Prague – according to me

• Sazazu, my local favorite. Amazing Asian cooking experience. Not cheap, but worth every penny (€€€). One of my best tips for Prague.
• Woker, great Asian food for a quick bite (€).
• Trang An, great Vietnamese place (€).
• Eska, great local food with a twist (€€).
• Taro, (again) great Asian cuisine (€€).
• Manifesto is a new, really nice open air food market style area, where many established restaurants have their outlets.
• Naplavka is a great food market near the waterside. Great for breakfast or lunch.
• U Kroka, is a really nice place with local Czech food near the Park Inn hotel. Loved the feta cheese entree.

The best hotel tips for Prague – according to me

• Mosaic House and Moo Apartments – Mosaic house has a mix of dorm rooms and smaller rooms, which makes the hotel really vibrant. In their communal area, there are often performances and/or events. Their rooftop apartments are probably the best when it comes to price/value/view in Prague. Apart from that, they have some nice (long stay) apartments across the street with Moo Appartments.
• NYX hotel (formerly Fusion Hotel).
• Penta Hotel is a bit outside of the city center, but has great rooms, a really nice, vibrant atmosphere and -most importantly- a bar that allows you to get coffee 24/7 🙂

The best places to go out for a drink in Prague – according to me

• The Black Angel’s Bar is a bit hidden, but is one of the best cocktail bars you’ll find in Prague.
• AnonymouS is a cockail bar like no other: crew veiled in masks, a quirky cocktail menu, bottles without labels and mysterious drawings on the walls.

The best places to get things done in Prague – according to me

• I spent some time working at Kavárna Čekárna recently – some great coffee (filter) and toast, as well as a relaxed atmosphere to get things done. Garden is an extra plus for some fresh air.

The best things to do in Prague

• In the weekends especially in the summer there’s a farmers market (Naplavka) at Jiraskav bridge with amazing food.
• Přírodní park Šárka – Lysolaje (Divoká Šárkais) is slightly outside of the city, but is a beautiful park to visit if you want to escape the busy city.
• There’s a small LEGO museum in the city center which is actually pretty nice for a quick visit (LEGO has a big production plant outside of Prague)

The best places for a run in Prague – according to me

With the abundance of green areas close to the city and the river running through it, Prague is a very run-worthy city:
