Since I was a kid, I have been hiking with my dad and/or brother. Later, I would go hiking with my friends and -the last years- I have been hiking solo more and more. I love hiking – an instant reset from my busy business traveler life. These are my all-time favorite hikes.

Laugavegur and Fimmvörðuháls (Iceland)
Over 85 kilometers of the very best nature has to offer: the Laugavegur and Fimmvörðuháls

Kumano Kodo (Japan)
The trail of the Kumano Kodo itself is amazing, but the people, the food, the shrines, the temples and the hot springs around it make it even more special. I had my first true omakase experience at the start of the trail in Tanabe.

Jordan Trail Dana to Petra (Jordan)
Remote, beautiful, super tough, but all worth it – the Jordan Trail between Dana and Petra. And if the trail is not enough, you got the amazing food and even better Bedouin people. I am planning to return in 2019 or 2020 to finish the Petra to Aqaba part of the trail.

Amalfi Coast (Italy)
Surprisingly awesome, the Amalfi Coast. Superb views, great trails, quite some heavy climbing. This, combined with amazing food and hotels along the trail made this one of my favorite hikes ever.
